The Launch of the Currach

It was a balmy Sunday morning in March on the shores of Windermere (not often you hear those words together!), as the intrepid three - Edward Acland, Ian Pettman and Steve Tomlin - launched their replica Irish currach, built especially for the Working Woodlands event at Farfield Mill, open throughout April, 2012. It lived up to its promise, floating beautifully, handling like a thoroughbred, and succeeding in taking a variety of folk - young and old, in various combinations - out on the water for over an hour. You can see this wonderful craft at the Mill, alongside images of the whole process from start to launch.
